Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has told that it was the club that wanted to sign Djed Spence and he gave the green light to it because he believes he can become an important player.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed their key transfer business for the summer with any subsequent deals considered to be a luxury, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Antonio Conte made it crystal clear at the start of the year that Tottenham needed to sign experienced players to help drive the team on to greater heights. The club's transfer policy has changed as a result this summer, with Fabio Paratici and the head coach bringing experienced players to N17 who can be instant hits in the Premier League
Djed Spence said the opportunity to play Premier League football with Tottenham Hotspur was “a dream come true” after completing his move from Middlesbrough.
Tottenham Hotspur signed Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence on Tuesday in a deal that could rise to a reported £20 million ($24 million). Spence agreed a five-year contract with Tottenham after impressing during a loan spell with Championship side Nottingham Forest last season. The 21-year-old right-back's initial price is believed to be £12.5 million but that could rise to £20 million if add-on clauses are reached. Spence shot to prominence as Forest won promotion to the Premier League via the second tier play-offs last term. He made 46 appearances, scoring three goals in a season that culminated with victory over Huddersfield in the play-off final at Wembley.
