Gambhir also insisted that the opposition must learn to tackle spin-friendly conditions, even though the first Test in Chennai is set to be played on red soil track, which is known for creating conditions in favour of the fast bowlers. As far as India's playing XI is concerned, Gambhir gave away a few hints as to how the Rohit Sharma-led side might line-up against Bangladesh.

The report claimed that Jaiswal cut a 'sorry figure' against both Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah as the youngster kept missing deliveries outside the off-stump. However, the left-hander did look quite comfortable against the spinners and the report added that he used the sweep quite well to counter the threat of the spinners.

Jaiswal, who has has 1028 runs in the World Test Championship 2023-25, eyes a place in the history books when India take on Bangladesh in the series opener. If the 22-year-old scores 132 runs across the two Tests, he will become the Indian batter with the most number of runs in a single edition of the WTC.

After a day off, the India squad members took part in their third training session since their arrival here last week. The first Test begins on Thursday. As it is often the case, Virat Kohli was among the first set of batters to hit the nets. In the adjacent net was southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal as both him and Kohli faced Jasprit Bumrah and home hero R Ashwin.
