Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to maintain their recent dominance over Mumbai Indians when the two teams clash in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. Having recorded three consecutive wins against Mumbai Indians, RCB would want to make a winning start in front of their own fans. However, the Faf du Plessis-led side will be without the services of star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and pacer Josh Hazleood. It will be interesting to see who will fill the four overseas spots for them.
Michael Bracewell will miss New Zealand's one-day international series against Sri Lanka, the country's cricket board (NZC) said on Saturday, after he was signed by Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore to replace Will Jacks.
New Zealand allrounder Michael Bracewell will replace injured England batter Will Jacks in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad for the upcoming edition of the IPL. Jacks, who was bought by RCB for Rs 3.2 crore at the player auction in December last year, suffered a muscle injury while fielding during England's second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur earlier this month. Jacks made his England debuts in all three formats this year, winning his T20I and Test caps in Pakistan before playing his first ODI in Bangladesh. The injury may also affect his chances of earning selection in England's ODI squad for the World Cup in India later this year.
England batter Will Jacks has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury while doing national duty in Bangladesh. The 24-year-old Jacks, who was bought for Rs 3.2 crores by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the IPL auction in December last, suffered a muscle injury while fielding during England's second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur earlier this month, according to a report in ESPNcricinfo. "..after scans earlier this week and consultation with a specialist, he has been forced to pull out of the IPL," the report said.
England's 3-0 defeat in their Twenty20 series in Bangladesh was a real "eye-opener" for the world champions, white-ball coach Matthew Mott said.
H aving played three 50-over matches in Bangladesh with an eye on this year’s ODI World Cup, England now play three 20-over matches, also with an eye on this year’s ODI World Cup. Shorter format, similar conditions (indeed, Thursday’s first T20 will be played on the same pitch at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium as that last, lost, low-scoring ODI) and a similar focus.
BAN vs ENG, 1st ODI Live Updates: Bangladesh are two wickets down against England at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday. Earlier, Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and elected to bat in the first ODI. Will Jacks, who joined as a late replacement for injured Tom Abell, is making his debut for England. The three-match series is crucial build-up for both teams ahead of this year's World Cup in India. Hosts Bangladesh have won 12 of their last 15 ODIs at home since 2020. Reigning one-day and T20 world champions England are the only side to register a 50-over series win in Bangladesh since 2015. (LIVE SCORECARD)
