The fourth ODI was curtailed to 20-overs per side after rain played spoilsport. Chasing 192, India got off to the worst start possible as the side lost Shafali Verma (0), Yastika Bhatia (0) and Pooja Vastrakar (4) in quick succession and they were reduced to 12/3 in the third over. Soon after, Smriti Mandhana (13) was sent back to the pavilion by Hayley Jensen and India was in a spot of bother at 19/4 in the fifth over.

The Indian women's cricket team lost their third match in a row on their tour of New Zealand to surrender the five match series. New Zealand women chased down a stiff target of 280 runs in the third ODI to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series. The Indians did well to post a challenging total of 279 run son the board but New Zealand's middle-order came out all guns blazing to eventually take their team over the line with 5 balls to spare.
