Watch: Another Brainfade? Steve Smith's Mistake That Almost Became Costly For Australia In Cricket World Cup 2023 Final

Steve Smith made a huge mistake by not taking a crucial review despite being not-out during the Cricket World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. During the seventh over of the Australian innings, a slower delivery from Jasprit Bumrah crashed into Smith's pads and the entire India team went up in appeal. The umpire gave him out and although Smith was a bit interested, he was advised by Travis Head to not go for a review. However, replays showed that the impact of the ball was outside the off-stump and the decision would have been reversed.

Travis Head breaks India hearts as Australia win sixth Cricket World Cup title

AHMEDABAD: Opener Travis Head hit a sparkling 137 to power Australia to a record-extending sixth World Cup title with a convincing six-wicket win over India in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Chasing a tricky 241 for victory in the final, Australia slipped to 47-3 before the left-handed Head hit his second century of the tournament to steer the team home with seven overs to spare. Head’s knock and his marathon stand of 192 with Marnus Labuschagne, unbeaten on 58, ended India’s dominant run of 10 unbeaten matches at the event. Head fell after his 120-ball knock laced with 15 fours and four sixes before Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs to trigger wild celebrations in the Aussie camp. “Just thrilled to be a part of it,” man-of-the-match Head told Star Sports. “It’s a lot better than seeing the World Cup on the couch at home (on his injury).

India vs Pakistan World Cup Match Pitch To Be Used For Final. Pat Cummins' Act During Inspection Goes Viral

Inspecting the pitch before a match is routine but clicking pictures of the track, for possible dressing room discussion and strategy building, is a bit unusual. That's exactly what happened this morning when Australia skipper Pat Cummins came to have a look at the 22-yard-strip which will be used for the World Cup title clash between India and Australia on Sunday. Probably the pitch is playing on Australians' mind before the big match. Cummins was guarded in his response when asked about his assessment of the pitch, which has already been used for the marquee India-Pakistan match.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins hailed India's star pacer Mohammed Shami and said he will be the player who will challenge the Baggy Greens in the World Cup 2023 final on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Shami has taken the entire tournament by storm since making his first appearance against New Zealand in Dharamshala.
