Travis Head breaks India hearts as Australia win sixth Cricket World Cup title

AHMEDABAD: Opener Travis Head hit a sparkling 137 to power Australia to a record-extending sixth World Cup title with a convincing six-wicket win over India in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Chasing a tricky 241 for victory in the final, Australia slipped to 47-3 before the left-handed Head hit his second century of the tournament to steer the team home with seven overs to spare. Head’s knock and his marathon stand of 192 with Marnus Labuschagne, unbeaten on 58, ended India’s dominant run of 10 unbeaten matches at the event. Head fell after his 120-ball knock laced with 15 fours and four sixes before Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs to trigger wild celebrations in the Aussie camp. “Just thrilled to be a part of it,” man-of-the-match Head told Star Sports. “It’s a lot better than seeing the World Cup on the couch at home (on his injury).

India's Cricket World Cup Final Training Session Live Streaming: Where To Follow Live Telecast

On the eve of the final, Team India will take part in its last practice session of the Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday. India take on Australia in the final with a lot of focus on the pitch, especially after ICC's head curator Andy Atkinson allegedly accused the host nation for swapping tracks for their semi-final against New Zealand earlier this week. Ahead of the final, the Indian players will hit the nets for the final time in this tournament as they look to end 12-year wait for an ICC title on Sunday.

'It Shows His Character': Ex-India Star On Virat Kohli Bowing Down To Sachin Tendulkar After 50th ODI Ton

India star batter Virat Kohli slammed his 50th ODI century on Wednesday to script a new all-time record. During the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-final clash against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the right-handed batter scored a century to achieve the milestone. With it, Kohli also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's previous world record of 49 ODI centuries. After crossing the 100-run mark, Kohli bowed down to Tendulkar, who was sitting in the stands. Tendulkar too acknowledged Kohli's gesture as he clapped and hailed the former for achieving the feat.

Gautam Gambhir Picks 'Biggest Gamechanger' For India In World Cup. It's Not Kohli, Rohit Or Shami

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir showered praise on Shreyas Iyer and claimed that he will be the biggest game-changer for him in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. While speaking at Star Sports, Gambhir said that Iyer had to fight for his place after recovering from injury and then score a century in 70 balls in the knockout stage of the tournament. He added that the Indian middle-order batter will be the key for India in the final when Australia's Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa bowl.

"If The Ball Is Not Swinging...": Mohammed Shami On His World Cup 2023 Success

Senior India pacer Mohammed Shami has said there is nothing extraordinary in his bowling, adding he just focuses on stump-to-stump length and putting the delivery in "a zone" to get wickets. Shami has been India's go-to bowler in the World Cup, where he is currently the side's top wicket-taker, scalping 23 wickets in six matches at an economy of 5.01, including a four-for and three fifers. He grabbed seven wickets in the semifinal against New Zealand in Mumbai on Tuesday.

"Want Those Morons Being Proven Wrong": Sunil Gavaskar Wants India vs Australia Cricket World Cup Final For This Reason

India are in the final of the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. Only one win remains in between the Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team and the Cricket World Cup trophy. India have not an ICC trophy since 2013 and the Indian cricket team is on the cusp of ending that drought at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Ahead of the match, there were reports that said hosts have changed the pitch at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in order to assist their spinners.
