YANQING, China : Italy's Sofia Goggia, the reigning Olympic downhill champion, will skip the super-G scheduled for Friday but is set to compete in the downhill race at the Beijing Winter Olympics, a spokesman for the Italian team said on Thursday.
Sofia Goggia won't take part in the Beijing 2022 super G scheduled on Friday 11 February.
The super G is the first speed event in the women's alpine skiing programme at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

YANQING, China : Defending Olympic downhill champion Sofia Goggia, whose dreams of Beijing gold were threatened by a serious knee injury, says she is back on skis and preparing to fly to China.

Olympic Downhill champion Sofia Goggia has confirmed that she is back on skis less than two weeks after a horrible crash in Cortina. Goggia, who won Olympic gold four years ago in Pyeongchang has been in excellent over the past two seasons and was looking like one of the favourites for gold in Beijing. Ad/> Goggia gave the Italian fans a scare when she tumbled down the mountain in the Super-G at Cortina and ended up spraining her left knee as well as partially tearing a cruciate ligament and suffering a minor fracture of the fibula bone in the leg.
Cornelia Huetter and Federica Brignone tied for first place in a World Cup super-G on Sunday, in the final race before the Beijing Olympics.
