"Why Are People Remembering Shoaib Malik?": Shahid Afridi Makes Huge Statement

Pakistan will take on India in their opening game of the T20 World Cup in Melbourne on October 23. However, heading into the tournament, one of the biggest concerns for Pakistan has been their middle-order. Pakistan have tried difference combinations in the middle, but the performances have been far from consistent. While the Pakistan have backed the current players, several current and former players feel that the management should look for alternatives.

Pakistan "Don't Have Such A Finisher...": On Being Asked About Hardik Pandya, Shahid Afridi Says This

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi feels that the Pakistan cricket team needs a match-winning finisher like Hardik Pandya. When asked by a news anchor if he could see any match-winner down the order in the Pakistan batting line-up, Afridi admitted that the team lacks such a player. Afridi said that people were expecting players like Asif Ali or Khushdil to play that role for Pakistan but they both have been inconsistent with their performances. He added that even Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan lack consistency.

Ex-Pakistan Captain Salman Butt's Stern Take On Shahid Afridi's "PCB Hasn't Done Anything" For Shaheen Comment

Former captain Shahid Afridi claimed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not taking care of their star pacer Shaheen Afridi in his rehabilitation process. Shaheen, who has been named in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad, left the team from UAE to go to England for treatment and recovery for a knee injury he had suffered during the Test series against Sri Lanka. However, PCB chief Ramiz Raja came out to deny that the board had "disowned" Shaheen, saying that it is unthinkable that the board would not take care of the star pacer, calling it an "unfortunate controversy".

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has now reacted to the statement given by Shahid Afridi, where he said that pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is paying for his own rehabilitation in England and is staying in the country on his own money. Akram said that if this is true then it is indeed shocking as Shaheen Afridi is a top player and is "box-office". He also said that it would be really unfair if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not looking after their main stars.

On Thursday, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi came out with a statement, saying pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is paying for his own rehabilitation in England and is staying in the UK on his own money. "He has flown out to the UK on his own ticket, he is staying there on his own money, I arranged a doctor for him there, he contacted him there, the PCB is not doing anything in all this. As far as I know he is doing everything about staying there and coordination with doctors," Afridi told Pakistan's Sama TV.

"Shaheen Paying For Rehabilitation, PCB Hasn't Done Anything": Shahid Afridi Alleges

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors named a 15-member squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup on Thursday. They included young left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently recovering from injury, in the squad. Shaheen, 22, injured his knee while fielding during the first Test in Sri Lanka in July and missed the Asia Cup earlier this month. The lanky left-arm paceman will also miss the seven-match T20I series against England starting in Karachi from September 20 but chief selector Mohammad Wasim said his injury is being monitored. "We are assessing Shaheen's injury and hope that he will be fit," Wasim said in a press conference in Lahore.
