Pakistan Cricketers Meet Legendary Goalkeeper On Visit To Ajax Football Club

Some members of the Pakistan men's cricket team visited legendary football club AFC Ajax during their tour of the Netherlands. Players like Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq and Shadab Khan were among those who got a tour of the famous football club, that has won the Dutch Eredivisie a record 36 times in addition to four Champions League titles. While there, they also met legendary Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who is currently the CEO of the club. Upon finding out that wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan was not part of the visiting entourage, van der Sar even joked that he could don the gloves behind the stumps.

Babar Azam's career graph is on the rise. He is currently the world No. 1 batter in ODIs and T20I in ICC rankings. In Tests, he is ranked No. 4. "As a player it's a dream to become the No. 1 in all formats and, for that, you have to focus and put in hard work. It's not like if you are the top player in one or two formats, you go easy," the official website of ICC quoted Babar as saying recently. "If you are to become No.1 in all three, you have to keep yourself fit and on track. There is back-to-back cricket and the gap is less. For that, you need to be extra fit. It's something I am preparing for. It's going well in white-ball and hopefully, I will be able to do well in Tests too," he added.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam recently took to Twitter to share a picture with his teammates. "With the boys!" he captioned it. In the picture, Babar is accompanied by Shan Masood, Sarfaraz Khan, Fawad Alam and Azhar Ali and all five, dressed in fine casuals, are seen looking at the same direction. Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan replied to the Tweet with a hilarious comment. "Muje esay kyu dekh rahe hei sab? (Why is everyone looking at me like this?)" he wrote.

Pakistan's limited overs team vice-captain Shadab Khan took a splendid catch on Wednesday during the 1st ODI against West Indies in Multan. That catch broke a 154-run stand as Shamarh Brooks was sent back on 70. Brooks tried a sweep off Mohammad Nawaz, who took the pace off the delivery. The batter ended up mistiming the shot as the ball took the outside edge of the bat and flew towards the short third man region. While it appeared that the ball might just beat Shadab, the spin-bowling all-rounder flew towards his left to complete a one-handed catch.

International cricket returned to Multan after almost 14 years on Wednesday, with Pakistan facing West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series. After electing to bat, West Indies lost the wicket of in-form batter Kyle Mayers in the third over after Shaheen Shah Afridi showed quick reflexes to complete a return catch. Shai Hope and Shamarh Brooks then added 154 runs for the second wicket before the latter was dismissed on 70 by Mohammad Nawaz. The credit for Brooks' dismissal largely goes to Shadab Khan, who took a wonder catch to end the dangerous looking stand.
