MONTREAL — Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso recorded the fastest lap time in Saturday's rainy practice at the Montreal Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso was quickest in the third practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on Saturday. The hugely experienced Spaniard, a former world champion, has impressed since Friday’s first practice session and as the rain poured down throughout, the Alpine driver set the fastest time.
The final hour of practice before qualifying started in cold and wet conditions after heavy rain, which had hit Montreal regularly over the past few days, arrived early enough on Saturday to disrupt proceedings.
The reigning F1 world champion dominated the practice timesheets on Friday at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, leading in both practice sessions, with a best time of 1m14.127s in FP2.
