INDIANAPOLIS – Scott Dixon has said the Indy 500 doesn’t owe him anything; that he can accept the fact that he is one of greatest drivers in the race’s history but has just one victory to show for his efforts.
INDIANAPOLIS — Marcus Ericsson earned $3.1 million for his victory in the 2022 Indy 500, which featured a record purse of $16 million that nearly doubled last year’s prize-winning total.
Ericsson held off Pato O'Ward to score his maiden Indy 500 win, only his third in IndyCar competition after arriving from F1 in 2019, and the fifth for Ganassi's storied team since 2000.

INDIANAPOLIS : Coming into the Indianapolis 500, Marcus Ericsson was the fifth wheel on a powerhouse Chip Ganassi Racing all-star lineup of champions and drivers who had already been to Victory Lane at the Brickyard.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Dixon became the all-time lap leader for the biggest open-wheel race in America, surpassing Al Unser Sr’s record of 644 laps led on lap 133 of the 2022 Indy 500. Dixon started the day third on the list and passed Ralph dePalma’s mark of 612 just before half distance.
