However, his sleep was disturbed by David Warner's dismissal and because he was the next batter, he quickly got ready and rushed to the field. Indian cricket team all-rounder Shardul Thakur was in a spot of bother during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia after he was struck in the forearm by a fiery delivery from Pat Cummins on Friday. Shardul was tested with short-pitched bowling from the Australia bowlers and Cummins was the one who bothered him the most. One of the rising deliveries from Cummins hit Shardul straight on his forearm leaving him in pain. The India physio had to intervene as the batter received treatment for some time before he was ready to take strike once again against the Australia skipper.

Several Australian cricketers had to return to the field after leaving prematurely following a successful DRS review from India on Day 3 of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final at The Oval on Friday. In a rare incident, the Australian cricketers decided to not wait for the third umpire's decision when Mohammed Siraj was given out LBW in the 68th over of the Indian innings. It was the final wicket for India and although the on-field umpire gave him out, the decision was ultimately reversed. The cricketers had to quickly come back to the field as boos rang all around the ground following the incident.

Ravindra Jadeja was the only player who provided Team India with some hope on a disappointing Day 2 of the World Test Championship against Australia at The Oval. Starting the day on a positive note with the bowlers making a remarkable comeback and bundling out Australia for 469, the Rohit Sharma-led side was reduced to 151/5 at stumps. Only Jadeja played a knock of 48 off 51 balls and helped India gain some momentum. He was dismissed by Nathan Lyon and the Indian fans were visibly disappointed.

The World Test Championship final between India and Australia is underway at the Oval, London. It started with India skipper Rohit Sharma winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Helped by centuries from Travis Head (163) and Steve Smith (121), Australia posted 469 runs on the board in their first innings. Mohammed Siraj claimed a four-wicket haul while Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur picked two wickets apiece. In reply, India had a poor start which eventually saw them losing six wickets with only 152 runs on the board.
