Sunil Gavaskar Left Stunned By India Star's Reverse Scoop Against Australia: "Fearlessness..."

Legendary Indian cricket team batter Sunil Gavaskar was left stunned by Nitish Reddy's reverse scoop during Day 1 of the pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide on Friday. In the 42nd over of the Indian innings, Scott Boland bowled a length delivery just outside the off-stump and Nitish decided to try out an unorthodox approach against the ball. He assumed the stance quite quickly and scooped the ball over the slip fielders for a six. It was one of the longest parts of the ground and the shot even left Jasprit Bumrah amused on the non-striker end. During an analysis on Star Sports, Gavaskar was all praise for the youngster and said that his approach shows the "fearlessness of youth" even in Test cricket.

However, not much went right for the India skipper who was dismissed LBW by Boland after spending only minutes on the pitch. Nitish Kumar Reddy was on the charge for India on Day 1 of the 1st Test against Australia in Adelaide. With India reeling at 141/8, Nitish took it upon himself to take his side close to the 200-run mark. He targetted Australia pacer Scott Boland late in the second session, and even reverse-ramped him for a six. On the second ball of the 42 over, Boland fired a delivery which would have gone on to hit the top of off. However, Reddy shuffled and reverse-ramped the ball over third man.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins on Thursday put an end to the disharmony rumours in his side and said that there's a great feeling around the team. The notion of divide within the Australia camp began when seasoned pacer Josh Hazlewood, on Day 3 of the Perth Test, said, "You probably have to ask one of the batters that question. I'm sort of relaxing and trying to get a bit of physio and a bit of treatment, and I'm probably looking mostly towards the next Test and what plans we can do against these batters." The Adelaide Test will be Boland's first match for Australia in the last 18 months. Skipper Cummins also confirmed that Mitchell Marsh will be fit to bowl in the Adelaide Test, according to cricket.com.au. Boland's previous Test was against England in the prestigious Ashes 2023 series. The 35-year-old will be replacing Hazlewood who suffered an injury during the Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
