NEW DELHI :It took some inspired personnel changes but Chennai Super Kings finally managed to ace the powerplay overs both with bat and ball and end their five-match losing streak in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Chennai Super Kings have picked Ayush Mhatre as a replacement for their injured skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, while Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed Smaran Ravichandran in place of Adam Zampa for the remainder of the Indian Premier League, the event's organiser said on Monday. Mhatre has played nine first-class matches and seven List A games, scoring 962 runs. The right-handed batter, who represents Mumbai in domestic cricket, joins CSK for Rs 30 lakh.

His remarks came after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their fifth straight loss of IPL 2025, losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. It was Dhoni's first game back in charge of CSK after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an elbow injury.
Chennai Super Kings on Friday suffered a humiliating eight-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders, as the MS Dhoni-led side, for the first time, lost three matches in a row at their hallowed home ground of Chepauk in their proud Indian Premier League history. It was yet another dismal batting performance by the five-time champions, who were completely dismantled by a clinical KKR side, slumping to their fifth straight loss of the season. With the win, KKR jumped to third in the points table, while CSK remained at the ninth spot. Lucknow Super Giants' Nicholas Pooran continues to hold the Orange Cap with a tally of 288. CSK's Noor Ahmad, with 12 scalps, is the highest wicket-taker and holds the Purple Cap.
