NEW DELHI :The euphoria around the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has not died down yet and India appear to have unearthed another teenage batting sensation in Chennai Super Kings opener Ayush Mhatre.
Ayush Mhatre is just 17 years and 292 days old, but he already looks like a promising T20 cricketer. He has stylish strokes, can hit the ball all around the ground, and has the power needed for modern T20 batting. What impressed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach Stephen Fleming the most, though, was Mhatre's calmness and maturity -- qualities he first noticed during trials and has now seen in action during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. "He's got talent. He's got hand-eye coordination. He's got a beautiful, silky swing. He's aggressive. Everything that we like about a modern-day T20 player," Fleming said about Mhatre at the post-match press conference, as quoted from ESPNcricinfo.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared a light-hearted moment with former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri during toss time against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). MS Dhoni had opted to bowl after winning the toss in a packed M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, when his former coach Shastri asked whether CSK had any plans to control RCB's aggressive powerplay batting. Dhoni dropped a cheeky one-line response to Shastri's question, refusing to give away his cards ahead of a high-profile match.

It has been a disappointing season for five-time champions CSK, languishing at the bottom of the table with just two wins out of nine games. PBKS, on the other hand, are placed fifth in the standings with five wins from nine matches and would look to rise up with a victory against a demoralised CSK side, which failed to get its combinations right so far in the season.
