Yash Dayal Replaces Injured Khaleel Ahmed In India Reserves For Australia Tests

Left-arm seam bowler Yash Dayal has been added to India's reserve pacers' list after Khaleel Ahmed had to be sent back home due to an unspecified niggle. Dayal, who was added in the Test squad during the Bangladesh series, was in South Africa for the T20I series but didn't play a single match. He flew directly to Perth from Johannesburg after Khaleel developed a niggle and was unable to bowl in the nets. The medical team advised the Rajasthan left-armer rest and hence it was decided that Dayal would fly in while Khaleel fly back home.

After being released by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) would target wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul in the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. LSG snubbed their captain Rahul and retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni in the squad. On the other hand, RCB and CSK retained three (Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal) and five players (Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni), respectively. The southern franchises will head into the auction with a bank of Rs 83 crore (RCB) and Rs 55 crore (CSK) to fill 22 and 20 spots, respectively.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday announced the appointment of Omkar Salvi as the IPL franchise's bowling coach, a reward for guiding Mumbai to Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy titles last season. A well-known name on the domestic circuit, Omkar has in the past worked as assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders. "Omkar Salvi, current Head Coach of Mumbai, has been appointed as RCB's Bowling Coach," the franchise tweeted. "Omkar, who has won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy and the IPL in the last 8 months, is excited to join us in time for #IPL2025, after completion of his Indian domestic season duties." He is expected to join RCB after the end of the ongoing Ranji season, which will resume on January 23.

England pacer Reece Topley has been fined 15 per cent of his match fees by the International Cricket Council as he smashed a chair after an injury setback during the first T20I against the West Indies. Topley jarred his right knee during the series opener against the West Indies on Saturday. He tried to continue bowling after a short rain delay but eventually left the field after bowling one more delivery and didn't take the field for the rest of the game.
