Retiring Blackcaps great Ross Taylor will feature for the New Zealand XI against the Netherlands in Napier next week as he looks to get some game-time ahead of his final One Day International series later this month. Having been ruled out of today's Plunket Shield match for the Central Stags as a Covid-19 'household contact', Taylor will turn out against the touring Dutch at McLean Park in the second one-day warm-up match on March 19 as well as the one-off T20 on the evening of the 21st. Taylor said he was excited to join the NZ XI and grateful to get some game time ahead of his final series for the Kiwis.
Ross Taylor will look to exit COVID-19 isolation and play straight back into form in warmup matches against the Netherlands before bidding farewell to cricket in the following ODI series. Ruled out of a first class game for the Central Stags as a close contact of a COVID-19 case, the 38-year-old will instead play white ball matches for a developing New Zealand XI at McLean Park in Napier from next week. "It'd be nice to have got in there and played for the Staggies," he said in a video call from home. "But to play some white-ball cricket with a higher intensity, I think it’s ideal preparation. "It's a great opportunity to see the Netherlands side up close and obviously there's a few Kiwi connections to them as well."
Former Proteas opener and Lions captain Stephen Cook jokingly admitted that he played a role in Devon Conway's departure to New Zealand in 2017.

Playing his first Test in eight months only because Trent Boult is away on paternity leave, Henry claimed 7-23 in the first innings to set up New Zealand's victory by an innings and 276 runs at the Hagley Oval.
