Sunil Gavaskar Not Pleased With Team India's Batting Order Experiment

Indian cricket great Sunil Gavaskar didn't seem pleased with Team India's decision to go ahead with Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant as the pair of opening batters in the 2nd ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Skipper Rohit and Pant, who is a middle-order batter, surprising fans by opening India's batting but failed to give the side a good start. Rohit departed for a score of 5 while Pant could only muster 18. India ended with a total of 237/9 from their 50 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav top-scoring with a knock of 64.

India managed to score a below par 237/9 in 50 overs after being put in to bat by West Indies' stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran in the 2nd ODI at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. India were rocked early as captain Rohit Sharma was sent back in the third over itself. The experiment to open the innings with Rishabh Pant also failed as he departed for a slow 18. Virat Kohli's wretched run continued with another dismissal after being set in the middle.

The Indian cricket team is taking on West Indies in the 2nd ODI at Ahmedabad on Thursday and find themselves in a spot of bother after the fall of three early wickets. Legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar backed Virat Kohli to score runs for India irrespective of the captain he is playing under. There have been a lot of speculation about Kohli's body language and approach now that he is no longer the captain in any format but Gavaskar said he is a quality player and would be back amongst runs very soon. Kohli, who came out all guns blazing, hitting his first two balls for four in the first ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad, was holed out in the deep in the same over when he failed to control a pull shot off Alzarri Joseph.
