The 2022 T20 World Cup is just a month away. All teams are in the final phase of the preparation. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is also gearing up for the mega event with two bilateral series against Australia and South Africa. Apart for the 15 members in the main squad, the selectors also announced four standby players, which include veteran paceman Mohammed Shami, all-rounder Deepak Chahar, spinner Ravi Bishnoi and top order batter Shreyas Iyer. Bishnoi was part of the team that played in the Asia Cup and bowled with a lot of heart.
India and Australia are all geared up for the upcoming three-match T20I series, starting from September 20 in Mohali. With the Indian side featuring the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah among others, the Australian team also has some superstars in their ranks like Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Pat Cummins and Steve Smith. The Aaron Finch led-team is all set to give a tough fight to the hosts, ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. On Monday, both the teams went to sweat it out in the practice ground and what caught everyone's attention was the all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, playing left-handed shots.
India and Australia face each other in a three-match T20I series, starting September 20. The first match is set to take place in Mohali while the rest two matches will take place in Nagpur (September 23) and Hyderabad (September 25). Besides looking to win the matches against each other, both sides will also use the series to find a settled playing XI ahead of the T20 World Cup that is slated to take place in Australia in October-November this year.
Time for Team India to settle on best combo as dress rehearsal for World Cup begins with Australia T20Is...MOHALI: One positive to emerge from India's forgettable Asia Cup campaign was the century scored by Virat Kohli after a gap of three long years. Playing after a six-week break, Kohli scored a fiery 71st international century, although in an inconsequential affair against Afghanistan. That Kohli special (122 not out off 61 balls) was made possible, according to the bats man himself, by sticking to a "tried and tested" template in which six-hitting wasn't a priority. Kohli said as much in a chat with skipper Rohit Sharma.
The BCCI on Sunday unveiled the new T20 jersey for the Indian men and women's cricket teams. The unveiling comes a month ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia next month and two days before India's T20I series against Australia. "To every cricket fan out there, this one's for you. Presenting the all new T20 Jersey - One Blue Jersey," the BCCI tweeted. The jersey comprises a light blue t-shirt with sleeves of a darker shade of blue, paired with light blue trousers.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is just two sixes away from becoming the batter with the most sixes in the history of T20I cricket. India will start off their home series against Australia on September 20. The next T20I match will take place in Nagpur on September 23, followed by the third and final T20I match in Hyderabad on September 25.
India will look to sort out their combinations, especially in the middle-order, while giving a final shape to their plans and preparations for the T20 World Cup when a three-match home series against Australia begins here Tuesday. Though a few fast bowlers will be rested over the course of six games before the World Cup -- three matches against South Africa to follow after the Australia series -- India have a full strength squad at their disposal to finalise combinations.
