Rishabh Pant Training Hard To Get Trust Back In Body Following Comeback After Accident: Ricky Ponting

Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting on Thursday said skipper Rishabh Pant is putting in extra effort to get the "trust back" in his body for the upcoming IPL following the horrific accident that sidelined him for 14 months. India wicketkeeper Pant suffered a near-fatal accident in December 2022, which resulted in a year-long recovery phase and forced him to skip last year's IPL. "He (Pant) has probably batted more in the last week than he has ever batted leading into most of the IPLs. I think from his point of view, he wants to get a bit of trust back in his body again," said Ponting on the skipper's approach at the pre-season camp. "He has been putting himself through a few different paces and playing all the shots that he plays. He has been great, and more importantly, he has got a smile on his face, which is what all we love to see," added the former Australian captain.

Rishabh Pant Might Find It Very Difficult To Get Back His Fluency In IPL 2024: Sunil Gavaskar

Rishabh Pant will find it "very difficult" to be at his fluent best at the beginning of the IPL but Sunil Gavaskar expects that his knees will react better once he starts batting more and more in match situations. Having survived a horrific car crash in December, 2022, Pant will make a comeback to competitive cricket after more than 14 months as Delhi Capitals captain after an extensive rehabilitation program. "It'll be very difficult. But the good thing is he (Pant) has played some cricket. So he has got some practice. To get fluency in batting is a little tough," Gavaskar told 'Star Sports'.

"Delhi Capitals Not Able To Back Players": Former Coach Takes Dig At IPL Team

Delhi Capitals, one of the few franchises to have failed in their pursuit of winning an Indian Premier League (IPL) title, gears up for another season, with Rishabh Pant back as captain. Though Delhi have had some fine players in their ranks, they've only managed to go as far as the final of the tournament once. Mohammad Kaif, a former coach and mentor with the franchise, feels the lack of success at Delhi Capitals is because of the franchise's inability to back players.

Rohit Sharma Having The Freedom To Walk Out And Bat Will Be Beneficial For Mumbai Indians: Aaron Finch

With the burden of captaincy off his shoulders, Rohit Sharma will be able to play with a lot of freedom which will help five-time champions Mumbai Indians, reckoned former Australia T20 skipper Aaron Finch. Hardik Pandya will lead MI this season, replacing Rohit who has led the side to five IPL titles. "I think for Rohit, the challenge would be just walking out and opening the batting as he's done so many times for India and Mumbai over the years. This might be a wipe off for his shoulders," Finch said during Star Sports' Show Game Plan.
