13 Runs From 1 Ball: Yashasvi Jaiswal Smashes World Record Against Zimbabwe

Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted history by smashing 12 runs in the very first ball of the Indian innings during the fifth T20I encounter against Zimbabwe on Sunday. Sikandar Raza bowled a high full-toss to begin proceedings and Jaiswal slammed it comfortably over deep square-leg for a six. The umpire signalled for a no-ball and it was a free-hit for India. The next delivery was a length delivery and Jaiswal once again powered it straight down the ground for the second consecutive six. India ended up scoring 13 runs in just one legal delivery and Jaiswal became the first cricketer ever to score 12 runs off the first legal delivery of a men's game in T20I cricket.

Sanju Samson, India's vice-captain on T20I tour of Zimbabwe, recalled being a member of T20 World Cup winning team last month, saying emotions from the victorious scenes at Barbados are still going through his mind and called it an unbelievable experience. “The emotions are still going through. The photos are still around. It was an unbelievable experience. I couldn't stop smiling. Very fortunate to be part of the team. Credit to everyone who contributed. It was a complete team effort,” said Samson to broadcasters.

Experienced batter Sikandar Raza was on Monday named as captain of a young Zimbabwe team for the five-match T20I series against world champions India, which begins in Harare from July 6. The African side has also named Belgium-born Antum Naqvi in the squad but his final inclusion is subject to the confirmation of his citizenship status, Zimbabwe Cricket said in a release. Naqvi was born to Pakistani parents in Brussels, Belgium, before moving to Australia, but he was considered for selection after he declared his desire to represent Zimbabwe in international cricket and applied for naturalisation.

Having posted 147 for eight from their 20 overs, the tourists led by a single run ahead of the ultimate delivery of a nail-biting contest. Muzarabani, who had just come to the crease following Mark Adair's stunning catch to dismiss Richard Ngarava, delivered in fortuitous fashion as his unintentional inside edge off the bowling of Barry McCarthy deceived wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker to run to fine leg. Zimbabwe Name Uncapped Duo In Squad For T20I Series Against Ireland

Zimbabwe Cricket on Tuesday announced a 15-member squad for the three-match T20 international series against Ireland and included two uncapped players. The three-match T20I series will begin on Thursday at Harare Sports Club. Middle-order batter Brian Bennett and pace bowler Trevor Gwandu have been added to the squad against Ireland. They are among the four changes made to the side that failed to secure one of the two ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2023 places that were up for grabs at the regional qualifier tournament recently held in Namibia. While leg-spinner Brandon Mavuta and batter Tony Munyonga have earned recalls, the selectors have dropped pace bowler Tendai Chatara and left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza as well as opening batters Innocent Kaia and Nick Welch.
