"Central Contract Straightaway...": Ex-India Coach Ravi Shastri On How Umran Malik Should Be Handled

The list of Umran Malik's admirers is growing by the day. The SunRisers Hyderabad bowler has impressed all with his raw pace. Currently, he is among the top-four wicket-takers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with 21 scalps. On Tuesday, Malik picked three wickets for 23 runs against five-time champions Mumbai Indians. The 22-year-old Malik's rise has caught former India coach Ravi Shastri's attention too and he has a suggestion for Malik's improvement.

IPL 2022: SRH's Rahul Tripathi not far from India call-up, says Ravi Shastri

Rahul Tripathi scored a stroke-filled 76, which laid the foundation for Sunrisers Hyderabad to score a mammoth 193/6 against Mumbai Indians and win by three runs to keep their slender hopes of making IPL 2022 playoffs alive, former India head coach Ravi Shastri claimed that the Maharashtra batter is not far from a call-up to the national team. Tripathi's wonderful knock of 76 came off just 44 balls, laced with nine boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 172.73. "He's not far at all. If someone doesn't get up from the bench or gets up from the wrong side of the bed and gets injured, this guy can be slotted in straightaway. He can go at No. 3 or 4. He's a dangerous player and should be in the mix. If he's performing season after season, I'm sure the selectors will be watching that very, very closely and giving him his due," said Shastri on T20 Time:Out show on ESPNCricinfo.

Ravi Shastri - IPL: What's in store for the Jadeja-CSK relationship? - timesofindia.indiatimes.com - India - Chennai

IPL: What's in store for the Jadeja-CSK relationship?

Instagram often signifies a crack in relationship these days, but it doesn’t necessarily lead to break-ups. Ravindra Jadeja and Chennai Super Kings unfollowing each other on social media after a decade-old courtship has sparked off speculation about the future of the relationship between the player and the franchise that has been mutually beneficial over the years. From being a talented but slightly erratic all-rounder, Jadeja transformed into one of the most crucial cogs of CSK as well as the Indian team during the last decade. Jadeja was CSK’s No. 1 retention ahead of the auctions and according to MS Dhoni, it was told to him last year itself that he would be the captain of the franchise this season. The news of Jadeja’s elevation, though, came two days before this year’s IPL, for reasons better known to Dhoni and his employers. From the outside, it seemed Jadeja was caught unawares by this decision and it was evident during the course of the first 10 games that the baton of captaincy hadn’t exactly been passed on. As Jadeja kept fielding in the deep, Dhoni kept taking the important decisions and CSK lost more than they won.

Pata Nahi Kya Kar Raha Tha Bench Par": Ravi Shastri Baffled By KKR's Decision To Drop This Star In Previous IPL 2022 Matches

Pat Cummins on Monday showed his prowess with the ball, taking three wickets in an over as Kolkata Knight Riders romped to a 52-run win over Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2022 clash. Cummins had missed the first three games for KKR this season, arriving for the tournament after completing his international commitments with the Australian team. The fast bowler made instant impact on his very first game of the season, smashing a 15-ball 56 to help KKR beat Mumbai Indians. He had also taken two wickets but had been plundered for 49 runs off his four overs. After playing the next three matches, Cummins was dropped from the team. But he returned on Monday to play a starring role with the ball in hand.
