NEWCASTLE : Miguel Almiron came off the bench to secure a 2-1 victory for Newcastle United over Wolverhampton Wanderers to move them into fifth place in the Premier League on Sunday.
Newcastle United restored parity in their pursuit of a top-four place as they overcame a dogged Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 at St James' Park. Alexander Isak's glancing header from a delicious Kieran Trippier delivery should have sealed the points for The Magpies, who had the better of the game's chances, but survived a couple of lucky escapes as well.
Adama Traore scored the only goal of the game as Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 to undermine their top-four challenge. Traore, a half-time substitute, reacted quickest when Fraser Forster could not hold a shot and acrobatically side-footed the ball home. Ad Spurs had edged a stop-start first half where chances were rare, but faded as the game wore on.
Manor Solomon extended his hot streak as the Fulham forward came off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw against Wolves in Friday's Premier League clash. Marco Silva's side trailed to Pablo Sarabia's first goal in five appearances for Wolves since his January move from Paris Saint Germain. But Israel international Solomon netted after half-time to stretch Fulham's unbeaten run in the league to four matches. Solomon made a quiet start after joining Fulham on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk last year, but the 23-year-old now has three goals in his last three appearances.
