Shubman Gill to lead India A against New Zealand A

Though the team is yet to be announced by the BCCI, TOI has learnt that Shubman Gill will lead India ‘A’ in both the four-day games and the three one-dayers. The three four-day fixtures will be held in Bangalore from September 1-4, 8-11 and 15-18, while the one-dayers will be held in Chennai on September 22, 25 and 27. Captained by Tom Bruce, the NZ ‘A’ squad will have seven internationals. The tour resumes the ‘A’ programme, which was stalled due to Covid-19. Taking as many as six five-wicket hauls, Mulani finished streets ahead of others in the wicket-takers’ chart in a truncated Ranji Trophy last season, taking 45 wickets in six games@16.75. The young tweaker also took 29 wickets in three games to bowl Mumbai to the under-25 CK Nayudu Trophy triumph.

Watch: Bengaluru Crowd Chants "RCB, RCB" After Rajat Patidar Hits Winning Runs For Madhya Pradesh In Ranji Trophy Final

Madhya Pradesh on Sunday lifted their first Ranji Trophy title after beating the 41-time champions Mumbai in the final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was an all-round performance from Madhya Pradesh at the same venue where they had lost the final in 1999 to Karnataka. Ranji Trophy: Madhya Pradesh Create History With Maiden Title, Beat Mumbai By 6 Wickets

Madhya Pradesh, not considered among cricketing elites during the past decade, on Sunday humbled domestic powerhouse Mumbai by six wickets in a one-sided Ranji Trophy final under coach Chandrakant Pandit, who exorcised the ghosts of losing one at this very ground 23 summers ago. On the final day, Mumbai could only manage 269 in their second innings, leaving MP with a paltry target of 108, and they did it in style as Pandit won a record sixth national title as a coach.

Ranji Trophy Final, Day 3: Yash Dubey, Shubham Sharma Centuries Put Madhya Pradesh On Top vs Mumbai

Unheralded Yash Dubey and Shubham Sharma made the biggest stage of Indian domestic cricket their own with well-crafted centuries, that pulled the rug from under heavyweights Mumbai's feet as Madhya Pradesh took a giant leap towards their maiden Ranji Trophy title in Bengaluru on Friday. Mumbai's first innings score of 374 looked reasonably good on the second day but Dubey (133, 336 balls) and Sharma (116, 215 balls) added 222 runs for the second wicket to take MP to a solid 368 for 3 at the end of day three.

Ranji Trophy 2021-22 Final: Mumbai Take On Madhya Pradesh Eyeing Record-Extending 42nd Title

There's a common adage in sport. "You never win a silver. You always lose a gold." Mumbai cricket has followed this old concrete jungle saying to the 'T' as its team now chases an unprecedented 42nd Ranji Trophy title. It now finds a bunch of bravehearts from Madhya Pradesh standing in its way with tricks of trade learnt from a Mumbaikar. MP head coach Chandrakant Pandit won't let his team settle for anything less than a championship but Amol Muzumdar's men have dominated the proceedings since the start of the business end of the season.

Ranji Trophy Semi-Finals: Bengal May Drop Ishan Porel Against Madhya Pradesh

Bengal batters will like to do an encore of their stellar quarter-final show but it will be far from easy in their Ranji Trophy semi-final against a gutsy Madhya Pradesh outfit comprising a slew of IPL stars and India's best domestic coach in Chandrakant Pandit. Madhya Pradesh is considered to be one of the most improved sides and even without a Venkatesh Iyer or Avesh Khan, can prove to be a handful with the likes of RCB star Rajat Patidar, pacer Kuldeep Sen and spinner Kumar Karthikeya in its ranks. Add to it seasoned seamer Punit Datey and talented batter Akshat Raghuvanshi, and the former India stumper's team becomes worthy contenders for the blue riband championship.
