BCCI may ask Wriddhiman Saha to explain breach of Central Contract clause with comments on Ganguly, Dravid, Chetan

BCCI, in all likelihood, will ask veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha about his recent outburst after being dropped from the Indian team as it is in violation of protocols to be followed by a centrally contracted cricketer. The annual central contracts that players sign (Saha is in Group B with annual retainership of Rs 3 crore) has a clause 6.3, which apparently he has violated. The clause 6.3 of players' central contract states: "Player shall not make any comments about the game, officials, incidents that happened in the game, use of technology, selection matters or any other matter related to the game which in opinion of the BCCI is adverse to and / or not in the interest of the game, team or BCCI in any media...."

In a tweet posted on the micro-blogging plaform on Sunday, Pathan gave his backing to Dravid without naming him. India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I, Team India Predicted XI: Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja Set For Return, Ravi Bishnoi And Yuzvendra Chahal To Battle For Second Spinner's Slot

Rohit Sharma's start to India's full-time white-ball captaincy has been perfect so far as India completed 3-0 clean sweep in T20Is over West Indies at home and another 3-0 sweep of the Windies in ODIs. The upcoming 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka is another chance for the team to continue its dominant run in home conditions. The victory over West Indies catapulted India to the top of the ICC rankings in T20Is, but Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid know that these bilateral series wins will eventually count for nothing if India falter in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

Indian Cricketers' Association Issues Statement In Favour Of Wriddhiman Saha, Condemns Journalist's "Threats"

The Indian Cricketers' Association on Tuesday released a statement and the body condemned the "threatening message" sent by a journalist to wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. The ICA has also welcomed the BCCI's decision to probe the issue. "We acknowledge the fact that the media plays a very important role both in the growth of our game and the players but there's always a line that must never be crossed. What has happened in Saha's case is totally unacceptable and we call for the respective press organisations too to take up the matter and ensure such things are not repeated," ICA President Ashok Malhotra said in an official statement.
