MELBOURNE : England have selected batsman Phil Salt and fast bowler Chris Jordan to replace the injured duo of Dawid Malan and paceman Mark Wood for the Twenty20 World Cup semi-final against India at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
England will make last-minute fitness calls on Dawid Malan and Mark Wood as they look to spoil the party in Thursday's Twenty20 World Cup semi-final against India, skipper Jos Buttler said.
England batter Dawid Malan is a doubtful starter for his side's T20 World Cup semifinal against India on Thursday after picking up an injury during the team's final Super 12 game. Malan sustained a groin injury in England's four-wicket win over Sri Lanka on Saturday. The former world No. 1 T20I batter hobbled off the field during the Sri Lankan innings and did not return to bat in England's run chase. Vice-captain Moeen Ali said Malan's injury doesn't look good.
Morgan turned a struggling team into one where aggression and risk was rewarded, and crucially where failure did not automatically mean punishment. A shrewd captain and master accumulator, Morgan has been replaced as skipper by wicketkeeper/opener Jos Buttler, while also gone from the side is prolific opener Jason Roy.
LONDON : England's limited overs teams underwent their own reset long before the test side had even dreamed of "Bazball" but they go into the T20 World Cup in Australia on the heels of another revamp following the retirement of captain Eoin Morgan.
England and India are among the teams bidding to take Australia’s crown as the Twenty20 World Cup begins on Sunday.
All the top cricket teams are in the final stages of preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup, which starts later this month. Among the teams which are likely frontrunners for the title, England are in top form. The Jos Buttler-led team is currently touring Australia and defeated the hosts by eight runs on Sunday. Buttler is back in his all-action role as captain, opening batsman and wicketkeeper as power-packed England prepare to launch their bid for Twenty20 World Cup glory. The white ball star missed his side's recent 4-3 series win in Pakistan with a calf injury and in his absence Alex Hales and Phil Salt impressed at the top of the batting order, with Salt taking the gloves.
