MELBOURNE :Australia took seven wickets after tea on day five to win a classic fourth test against India by 184 runs and snatch a 2-1 series lead heading into the final match in Sydney.
Australia ripped out seven Indian wickets in the final session of the fourth Test in Melbourne on Monday to win by 184 runs and go 2-1 up in the five-match series. India collapsed to 155 all out with just 12.5 overs left in the match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and will need to win the final Test starting in Sydney on Friday to level the series and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia captain Pat Cummins, who took 3-28, removed top-scorer Yashasvi Jaiswal for 84 as India's last seven wickets fell for 34 runs from 20.3 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy became India's third youngest Test centurion on Saturday, overcoming several roadblocks in his path on Day 3 of the 4th Test against Australia in Melbourne. There were a few tense moments when he was batting in the 90s, especially after India lost the wickets of Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah in quick succession. Tail-ender Mohammed Siraj survived three balls from Pat Cummins' over, allowing Reddy, who was batting on 99, to regain the strike.
A huge DRS controversy erupted on Day 5 of the 4th Test between India and Australia as young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was controversially given out after he was caught behind by wicket-keeper Alex Carey. After Australia's appeal was turned down by the on-field umpire, captain Pat Cummins referred the decision to the third umpire from Bangladesh, Sharfuddoula Saikat. Jaiswal, batting on 84, went for a pull shot, but mistimed it as the ball went close to the face of the bat and his gloves. While the 'Snicko' didn't show any conclusive evidence of the ball touching either the bat or the glove, Sharfuddoula, after looking at different angles, gave the verdict in Australia's favour.

Jaiswal was looking in brilliant form against the Australia bowlers but his gritty knock came to an end as he was caught behind off the bowling of Pat Cummins. During the 71st over of India's second innings, Jaiswal decided to pull a short delivery from Cummins but the ball went behind and was caught by Alex Carey. While the umpire did not think that there was any edge involved, the Australia cricketers looked confident as they opted for a review.
