Starting the competition with a foul, the 23-year-old para-athlete from Haryana, who had finished fourth at the Tokyo Games three years ago, came up with a throw of 46.39 metres in his second attempt, propelling him to the second place. But it was his third throw that electrified the stadium.

India's Simran Sharma, the reigning world champion, breezed her way into the final of the women's 200m T12 race with a time of 25.03 seconds at the Paralympic Games in Paris on Friday. Simran had earlier topped her heat and entered the semifinals with a timing of 25.41s. Simran was in the same heat as Germany's Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt, who had pipped her to bronze on Thursday night in the 100m final. The Indian, who became world champion this year in Kobe, was born prematurely with visual impairment and faced numerous challenges throughout her life, including her father's chronic illness and eventual passing.

Indian Paralympic athletes received a grand welcome at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on their return home from Paris, after putting up a record-breaking show at the Paris Paralympics. On Saturday morning, half of the Indian contingent made their return home after taking part in the Paris Paralympics. Avani Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, Pranav Soorma, Rakesh Kumar, and Manish Narwal are among others who touched down in Delhi. Fans outside the Delhi airport gathered in huge numbers and greeted the para-athletes by showering flower petals on them.
