Aged just 17, para archer Sheetal Devi made the world stop and take notice as she stunned everyone with her performances at the Paris Paralympics. Though Sheetal bowed out of women's individual compound open archery event on Saturday, her bullseye shot in the event has taken the sporting world by storm. One of the few archers in the world without arms, Sheetal started off the event with a bullseye shot, and the video of it has gone viral. The inspirational para-archer even drew a reaction from football club Barcelona star Joules Kounde on social media.

India's Schedule At Paris Paralympics 2024, September 2: Para Badminton Stars Eye Multiple Gold Medals

India had a good outing on Sunday as Nishad Kumar and Preethi Pal bagged medals for the country. While Nishad clinched a silver in the Men's High Jump T47 final at Paris Paralympics 2024, Preethi won a bronze in the bronze medal in Women's 200m T35 event. Preethi became the first-ever Indian sprinter to win two medals at Paralympics. She had earlier bagged a bronze in Women's 100m T35 class. India will be winning more medals on the following day, that is Monday, as badminton stars Suhas Yathiraj, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan will be competing in their respective gold medal matches.

Preethi Pal Scripts History, Wins Her Second Bronze Medal At Paris Paralympics

India's Preethi Pal won a bronze in women's 200m T35 category, her second medal of Paris Paralympics, with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds on Sunday. The bronze won by the 23-year-old Preethi was also India's second para-athletics medal in the Paris Games. T35 classification is meant for athletes who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. On Friday, she had clinched India's first athletics medal in a Paralympics track event, winning a bronze in the women's T35 100m competition with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.

Suhas Yathiraj, Nitesh Kumar Keep India On Track For Badminton Gold In Paralympics

Suhas Yathiraj and Nitesh Kumar on Sunday inched closer to their maiden gold medal after progressing to the men's singles final in their respective categories at the Paris Paralympics. While Suhas, a silver medallist from Tokyo Games, is set to become the first Indian shuttler to secure back-to-back medals at the Paralympics after outplaying compatriot Sukant Kadam 21-17, 21-12 in SL4, Nitesh guaranteed a medal for himself in SL3 with a 21-16 21-12 victory over Japan's Daisuke Fujihara in another semifinal.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Nishad Kumar Wins Silver In High Jump T47 Category

High jumper Nishad Kumar of T47 category clinched his second successive silver at the Paralympic Games with a season's best effort of 2.04m on Sunday. Nishad had also won a silver in Tokyo Paralympics three years ago. He had jumped 2.06m then in Tokyo. T47 is meant for competitors with a below elbow or wrist amputation or impairment. Nishad's silver was India's third medal from para-athletics and seventh for the country overall in Paris Paralympics.

Nitesh Kumar Assured Of At Least A Silver After Reaching Badminton SL3 Final

Top-seeded Indian shuttler Nitesh Kumar secured a medal in men's singles SL3 category after a commanding straight-game win over Japan's Daisuke Fujihara in the semifinals at the Paris Paralympics on Sunday. The 29-year-old Nitesh, who overcame permanent leg damage from a 2009 accident, showed his dominance with a 21-16 21-12 win over Fujihara in a 48-minute semifinal. The IIT Mandi graduate thus ensured that India return with a medal from the SL3 category, after Pramod Bhagat clinched the gold when para badminton made its debut three years ago in Tokyo.

India opened its account in the athletics competitions at the Paris Paralympics with a bronze medal as sprinter Preeti Pal finished third in the Women's 100m - T35 Final with a personal best time at Stade de France on Friday.

Indian shooters Avani Lekhara finished 11th while Sidhartha Babu ended 28th and were unable to make the final of the mixed 10m air rifle prone (SH1) event at the Paralympic Games in Chateauroux on Sunday. Coming off her historic gold medal in the 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, Avani could not replicate that form despite a strong start in what is not her pet event, and ended the competition with a total score of 632.8. Sidhartha aggregated 628.3 across six series.
