India's Preethi Pal won a bronze in women's 200m T35 category, her second medal of Paris Paralympics, with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds on Sunday. The bronze won by the 23-year-old Preethi was also India's second para-athletics medal in the Paris Games. T35 classification is meant for athletes who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. On Friday, she had clinched India's first athletics medal in a Paralympics track event, winning a bronze in the women's T35 100m competition with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.

India had a good outing on Sunday as Nishad Kumar and Preethi Pal bagged medals for the country. While Nishad clinched a silver in the Men's High Jump T47 final at Paris Paralympics 2024, Preethi won a bronze in the bronze medal in Women's 200m T35 event. Preethi became the first-ever Indian sprinter to win two medals at Paralympics. She had earlier bagged a bronze in Women's 100m T35 class. India will be winning more medals on the following day, that is Monday, as badminton stars Suhas Yathiraj, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan will be competing in their respective gold medal matches.
High jumper Nishad Kumar of T47 category clinched his second successive silver at the Paralympic Games with a season's best effort of 2.04m on Sunday. Nishad had also won a silver in Tokyo Paralympics three years ago. He had jumped 2.06m then in Tokyo. T47 is meant for competitors with a below elbow or wrist amputation or impairment. Nishad's silver was India's third medal from para-athletics and seventh for the country overall in Paris Paralympics.
Nitesh Kumar clinched gold medal in the Men's Singles SL3 badminton event after defeating England's Daniel Bethell at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Monday. Nitesh produced a brilliant performance to clinch the match 21-14, 18-21, 23-21. The para-badminton athlete looked in tremendous touch as he clinched the first game but Bethell fought back brilliantly to take the match to the deciding game. Both players showed flashes of brilliance in the final game but it was Nitesh who was able to register a huge victory. He became the second Indian to win gold at the Paris Paralympics after Avani Lekhara claimed a historic medal in women's 10m air rifle shooting standing SH1.
