Defending champion Novak Djokovic will meet 10th seed Jannik Sinner on Centre Court as Wimbledon enters the quarter-final stage on Tuesday. Djokovic is coming off a gruelling last 16 match on Saturday against Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven, which the world No. 3 came through in four sets after initially being troubled by his opponent's booming serve and single-handed backhand combination.
Novak Djokovic said the start times for the evening sessions at the All England Club were effectively turning Wimbledon into an indoor tournament for players scheduled to play late matches on the main showcourts. The reigning champion beat wildcard Tim van Rijthoven in four sets under the Centre Court lights on Sunday, setting up a quarter-final against young gun Jannik Sinner in a match that finished at about 10.40 pm local time (0940 GMT). "I don't see a reason why there wouldn't be an earlier start," Djokovic told reporters.
Nick Kyrgios called for the physio while a set down in his fourth-round match against Brandon Nakashima. The Aussie had been touching his left shoulder and admitted it was "not good" after hitting a serve but did not receive treatment, instead asking for painkillers.
Novak Djokovic’s son Stefan is “fully immersed into tennis” and the Serbian will “support him in any possible way” to become a professional, but for now it is important that his son just enjoys life.
Novak Djokovic says his seven-year-old Stefan tries to "intimidate" him by hitting the forehand like his arch-rival Rafael Nadal during their friendly practice sessions. The social media has been abuzz with Stefan joining his world famous father on the practice courts at Wimbledon this year and his follow-through has a striking resemblance to that of Nadal's. "He likes to do that. He likes to intimidate me on the court with finishing the swing here," the 20-time Grand Slam winner said after this 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven in a third round match on Sunday. "He knows I don't like that particularly. I'm trying to teach him to finish the hand here, the swing, over the shoulder. He does that, but he does this as well. "Whenever he does that he always laughs because he knows. We have this kind of funny moments on the court."
