India vs South Africa: Mohammed Siraj Replaces Jasprit Bumrah For Remaining 2 T20Is

The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Friday named Mohammed Siraj as replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa. The BCCI made the official announcement and they also provided an update on the extent of Bumrah's injury. "Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team," said the Indian cricket board in an official media release.

Mohammed Siraj might not be with the Indian team at the moment but the player is making sure he leaves no stone unturned to keep improving and be a better version of himself. The seamer made his County cricket debut at Edgbaston, Birmingham while playing for Warwickshire against Somerset. The Indian pacer duly impressed in his maiden appearance by picking five wickets that too in the first innings of the game itself. Siraj's effort helped Warwickshire bundle out Somerset for 219 runs.

While the Indian T20 cricket team members are gearing for the World Cup in Australia, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj is honing his skills in the County Championship for Warwickshire. The 28-year-old pacer has so far played 13 Tests, 10 ODIs and five T20Is are is one of the best pace prospects in the country. He was part of the ODI series that India played in Zimbabwe and West Indies. Siraj is currently playing his first match for Warwickshire against Somerset in County Championship Division One in Birmingham.

Warwickshire County Cricket Club announced the signing of India all-rounder Jayant Yadav for the last three matches of their County Championship season. "The 32-year-old will join up with his international teammate Mohammed Siraj at Edgbaston next week ahead of the home fixture against Somerset, which starts on Monday, September 12," an official statement released by Warwickshire County Cricket Club read. The right-arm spinner will provide another experienced option to the side, with Yadav taking 173 wickets and scoring 2,194 runs in 64 first-class matches to date.

Siraj, who had claimed one for 36 in the first ODI, kept the ball in the off-stump channel, troubling the Zimbabwe batters with the late swing. The 28-year-old from Hyderabad was rewarded for his consistency as opener Takudzwanashe Kaitano got an edge in the ninth over for Sanju Samson to pull off a one-handed stunner.

After winning the first ODI against Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, the KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team started the second ODI on a strong footing too.
