IPL 2023: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana Shine As Chennai Super Kings Beat Delhi Capitals By 27 Runs

Mahendra Singh Dhoni punished Khaleel Ahmed and then marshalled his bowling resources to perfection as Chennai Super Kings comprehensively beat Delhi Capitals by 27 runs to take a giant stride towards IPL play-off on Wednesday. The talismanic skipper's couple of monstrous sixes in his 9-ball-20 did help CSK get to 167 for 8, which was at least 20 runs above-par on a tacky Chepauk track. The total was just what Dhoni needed to marshall his bowlers as Delhi Capitals were never in hunt after their batting mainstays David Warner (0), Phil Salt (17) and Mitch Marsh (5) were out by the start of the fourth over.

However, Brook had other plans as he caught it in one hand and was able to throw it back just in time to save the boundary. There was a moment when fans thought that he will be able to complete the catch but he slipped slightly and the ball was just out of his reach.

DC batters however struggled to chase down the low target as their batting unit once again surfaced as the major problem in their unsuccessful campaign.

Ganguly, however, expects DC vice captain to bowl a better line after getting some hammering from Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran. "Yeah that's (batting) been discussed and he will bat up the order as his batting has improved. He has batted exceptionally well on difficult tracks against Australia and hopefully he can score runs for us," Ganguly told mediapersons.
