Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez Question Pakistan's Asia Cup Approach, Claims Report. Soon After One Of Them Resigns From PCB

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team did not live up to expectations in the recently-concluded Asian Cup 2023. It was a great chance for the 1992 Cricket World Cup champions to prepare for the 2023 edition, but the side were knocked out of the Super 4 stage.  Despite having played in Sri Lanka extensively, where most of the match of the Asia Cup were played, before the continental event, Pakistan could not qualify for the final. They lost to India too in a Super 4 match. The Pakistan Cricket Board conducted a review of the performance recently.

PCB Reviews Asia Cup 2023 Performance Ahead Of Cricket World Cup 2023 Squad Announcement

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Thursday held a review meeting of their woeful Asia Cup show in the wake of their World Cup squad announcement. All teams must finalise their 15-player squads for the cricket showpiece before the September 28 deadline, with any replacements after this date requiring approval from the ICC. "The philosophy behind this review was to create an atmosphere of open discussion and develop consensus," PCB chairman of the management committee Zaka Ashraf said in a statement. "The idea is to have everyone on board and debate about performances, identifying the problems and their solutions.” The review meeting was also attended by head coach Mickey Arthur, captain Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan and former skippers Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez.

Inzamam-ul-Haq Wants Mickey Arthur And Grant Bradburn To Continue With Pakistan Cricket Team: Report

Mickey Arthur and Grant Bradburn, the foreign coaches attached with the Pakistan cricket team, are likely to continue in their respective roles with new chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq conveying to the management that he is comfortable working with them. South African Arthur was appointed as Team Director in April this year by the PCB while Bradburn came as Head Coach in May. However there was speculation that their stints might be cut short in case the cricket technical committee, that includes Inzamam and Misbah-ul-haq, won't give a positive response on presence of foreign recruits on the selection panel.

Former Pakistan Captain Misbah-ul-Haq Set To Work As PCB Advisor

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq is set to return to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) nearly two years after he resigned as head coach of the national team, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. According to ESPNcricinfo, he will also be the advisor on cricketing affairs to the current head of the PCB, Zaka Ashraf. The upcoming appointment is the first significant step the new leadership would take in managing Pakistan cricket. After a brief legal snafu in late June, when Najam Sethi's term as caretaker chairman came to an end, Ashraf was chosen to lead the PCB's new executive committee. Misbah's position is anticipated to be an honorary one, which means he won't receive compensation. After their Monday meeting, he came to a final conclusion.
