With 15 days until the 2024 NFL draft — Round 1 begins at 8 p.m. ET on April 25 on ESPN, ABC and ESPN+ — it's time to dig a little deeper. I'm going two full rounds in a new mock draft, filling roster holes for every team from pick No. 1 to No. 64. There isn't much drama for the Bears at the top of the board, but it could get chaotic quickly after that.
Time for my third mock draft for the 2024 NFL draft cycle, plugging roster holes and filling needs with all 32 first-round picks after the first wave of free agency. Sure, there are still several free agents available, but the big-money signings have passed for the most part. We're about to see more one-year deals for the next couple of weeks. We also have a much better idea of which positions teams could target in Round 1 next month.
How great was the 2024 NFL combine? We had a couple of broken records, including the fastest 40-yard dash via Texas' Xavier Worthy. We saw extremely talented wide receiver and offensive tackle classes live up to the hype. And though the top three quarterbacks and top two wideouts didn't go through workouts, more than 300 prospects went through on-field drills, medical testing and in-person interviews with coaches and front office executives for all 32 teams. It's the most important event on the way to Round 1 of the draft, which begins April 25.
Who's ready for a new 2024 NFL mock draft? With combine workouts beginning Thursday — the defensive linemen and linebackers will kick things off — this is one of the most important weeks on the draft calendar. This is where coaches and front office executives can really get to know players. The interviews that happen behind the scenes are just as important as the on-field testing you'll see on TV.
Elite quarterback talent. The Chicago Bears picking No. 1. Some serious drama to come over the next few months. Wait, are we talking about the 2023 draft or the 2024 draft?
LSU receiver Malik Nabers, who led all FBS players in 2023 with 1,569 receiving yards, announced on social media Saturday that he was entering the NFL draft.
Alabama cornerbacks Kool-Aid McKinstry and Terrion Arnold plan to enter the 2024 NFL draft and won't return to the Crimson Tide next season, sources told ESPN on Thursday.
