Team India and Mumbai Indians (MI) cricketer Ishan Kishan opened up about his struggles against a certain category of bowlers he has faced so far in his career. One such name that came to his mind was England pacer Jofra Archer. Speaking in an interview to The Times of India, Kishan revealed his struggles against pacers like Archer, specially in the shorter formats of the game. When asked "What kind of bowlers trouble you?", Kishan had a pretty straightforward answer and said: "The Jofra Archer kind. He gets a little extra bounce. His pace and run-up don't match up. He comes in slow jogging. Playing shots off him is difficult. In One-day cricket, you get the time and can rotate the strike and target the other bowler. But in T20s, it is a very fast game."

"I don't think he has been handled well in the IPL for the last few seasons, he is a player who rides very much on confidence. Proven IPL talents like Jayant Yadav and Vijay Shankar were bought for cheap by Gujarat Titans. On day 1, Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL auction as he was sold for Rs 10 crore to Lucknow Super Giants. Ishan Kishan remained the biggest buy of day 1 as Mumbai Indians paid a whopping Rs 15.25 crore to keep him. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday acquired the services of India pacer Deepak Chahar in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru. He was bought by CSK for a whopping sum of INR 14 crore, becoming the highest paid bowler in the ongoing auction. Delhi Capitals and SunRisers Hyderabad started the bidding war for Chahar on Saturday. However, he was eventually sold to CSK, for whom he had been playing in the IPL before being released ahead of this player auction. CSK had retained four players and entered the auction with a purse of INR 48 crore.

Shreyas Iyer has been bought for Rs 12.25 by Kolkata Knight Riders while Punjab Kings used their big purse to net Kagiso Rabada and Shikhar Dhawan after an intense bidding war with their previous employers Delhi Capitals. The IPL mega auction ahead of the 2022 season is being held in Bengaluru and a total of 600 players are in the auction pool. The highest base price is Rs 2 crore and there are some big Indian and overseas players who are part of the list. Several young Indian stars like Prasidh Krishna, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar and Deepak Hooda are expected to go for big bucks. Established names like Shikhar Dhawan, Ravichandran Ashwin, David Warner, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis and many more are also in the fray.
