Chief of those is F1’s driver penalty points system – which world champion Max Verstappen in particular is going to have to be very mindful about during the forthcoming campaign.
Lewis Hamilton has not spoken in public or on social media about the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton quitting F1 ahead of the 2022 season opener would be "very damaging" for the sport, according to ex-driver turned pundit Karun Chandhok. He has warned it would be "quite hard" to see how the FIA recover from the scandal if the seven-time champion was to walk away. Rumours around Hamilton's return have circulated since he missed out on the title in dramatic circumstances at December's Abu Dhabi finale.
Mick Schumacher has expressed surprise that he was named in the top 10 drivers of 2021 by his Formula 1 peers.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has waxed lyrical about Max Verstappen's 2021 world title win over Lewis Hamilton and provided a shred of advice for the defeated Brit. Hamilton finally re-appeared on Monday after a lengthy social media hiatus, fuelling the belief that he will return to partner George Russell with Mercedes in 2022.
F1 race director Michael Masi made one decision which made it look like the FIA was "favouring Max Verstappen" at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it has been claimed. Pundit Karun Chandhok thinks Masi made an "error" by just selecting five cars between Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen to un-lap themselves under the safety car at the end of the race. Instead, he suggests leaving the lapped cars out would have been a "fairer solution" and "very exciting" for the fans.
