The winner of FIA ETCR’s predecessor PURE ETCR title didn’t put a wheel wrong all day as he proceeded through the day’s qualifying and Quarter Final sessions in his Pool FURIOUS group to end the day with 35 points, eight ahead of nearest Pool FURIOUS rival, Mikel Azcona (Hyundai Motorsport N).

The sun shined down on Pau as Ekström was crowned King of the Weekend after a near-flawless display from the winner of the FIA ETCR’s predecessor PURE ETCR.
Jordi Gené, a points-scorer in last season’s WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, will contest the FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup with CUPRA EKS alongside three talented team-mates and utilising a striking livery design. The 2021 title-winning CUPRA e-Racer will carry an eye-catching livery designed to represent the revolutionary change inspired by the digital world.
CUPRA Racing, which helped to power Mikel Azcona and Rob Huff to race wins in last season’s WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, has formed a brand-new partnership with the ultra-successful EKS team owned by Mattias Ekström. It means CUPRA becomes the first brand to confirm its plans for the inaugural FIA ETCR — eTouring Car World Cup, which will co-headline the events at Circuit de Pau-Ville "(May 7/8) and Hungaroring (June 11/12).
The FIA European Rally Championship’s all-inclusive status has been further underlined with confirmation of the new ERC Open category for 2022. Exclusively for Rally2 Kit, homologated Group N4 and RGT cars, ERC Open has been established by WRC Promoter, the ERC’s new promoter from this season.
