Stuart Broad dismissed Mohammed Shami to become only the third pacer and sixth bowler overall to take 550 wickets in the longest format. But his joy was short-lived as he also became the holder of the most expensive over bowled in the history of Test cricket. The England bowler conceded 35 runs as Bumrah took a liking to the England fast bowler. The previous most expensive over in Test history went for 28 runs. He reached the three-figure mark in style with a boundary off Matthew Potts. While Rishabh Pant's ton on Friday was fiery, No. 7 Jadeja took his time to settle in and made a late flourish on Saturday. His ton was only the fourth instance of any No. 7 or lower order Indian Test batter scoring two centuries in a calendar year, with Kapil Dev (1986), MS Dhoni (2009) and Harbhajan Singh (2010) being the other members of the elite club. This is also the third instance in Indian cricket, when two left-handers scored tons in the same innings. The earlier instances were: Sadagopan Ramesh (110)-Sourav Ganguly (125) against New Zealand in Ahmedabad (1999) and Ganguly (239)-Yuvraj Singh (169) against Pakistan in in Bengaluru (2007).

Rain had led to early Lunch and delayed resumption on Day 1 of the rescheduled 5th Test between England and India at Edgbaston in Birmingham and the weather is expected to interrupt play on Day 2 as well. As per Accuweather, Birmingham is expected to be partly cloudy with showers during the first hour of scheduled play, and then stay cloudy. Showers are again expected at 3 pm local time (7:30 pm IST). Play was extended by half an hour on Friday and the same may happen on Saturday as well if rain interrupts the match.
