Shane Warne's family and friends have bid the cricketing legend farewell at a private funeral in Melbourne.
Family, sportspeople and entertainers bid farewell to Australian cricketing legend Shane Warne at a private funeral held at his hometown in Melbourne on Sunday.
cricket superstar Shane Warne was farewelled at a private memorial service on Sunday with former fiance Elizabeth Hurley saying her "heart aches" for not being able to attend. The legendary leg spinner's body was found at a luxury resort in Thailand on March 4, with his death aged just 52 provoking shock and grief around the world from prime ministers, rock stars and fellow players. An autopsy revealed he died of natural causes following a suspected heart attack with a private jet flying him home to his native Melbourne. He was remembered before family and friends in an invitation-only service at St Kilda Football Club, an Australian Rules team he supported all his life. Warne's three children Brooke, Jackson, and Summer were expected to be at the centre of proceedings with local media personalities and his close-knit poker group also attending.
The Australian cricket team arrived in Karachi earlier this week ahead of the start of the second Test at the National Stadium, starting Saturday, March 12. Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey was involved in a hilarious incident after the team arrived at their hotel in Karachi. Carey, who was having a conversation with Nathan Lyon, accidentally fell into a swimming pool. The Australian players present at the scene couldn't control their laughter as even Carey was seen having a giggle about it. The moment was captured by Australian skipper Pat Cummins, who shared the video on his Instagram handle.
As far as the cricket goes, you can probably gather all you need to know from the fact that it was the first Test in history with a century opening partnership for three innings in a row. Or from the fact that Australia never got close to batting a second time. In the end Pakistan made 728 runs for the loss of four wickets in the match. Fold in the Australian innings and it read 1187 for 14. What else could be expected on a pitch the colour and character of a tranquilised Labrador.
Mark Taylor thought Shane Warne's "turbulent life" would just keep rolling on forever.
Pakistan Cricket boss Faisal Hasnain wants Australia's long-awaited return to the country to be a statement to the sport worldwide as local fans celebrate their first sight of Pat Cummins' team.
