Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) ate into Jonas Vingegaard’s Tour de France lead to the tune of eight seconds on Friday, but the Eurosport team on The Breakaway were critical of the tactics of the team. Pogacar had fond memories of the Grand Colombier, having won there on route to Tour de France victory in 2020. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep) secured victory on the final stage of the Volta a Catalunya but couldn't quite get the better of Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) in the General Classification. Roglic started the day with a 10-second advantage over Evenepoel and despite the Belgian’s best efforts, his rival clung to his wheel like glue for much of the ride around Barcelona. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-Quickstep) has sealed the overall victory at the UAE Tour after finishing ten seconds behind Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) on Stage 7. Evenepoel has dropped with 3km remaining on the summit finish, but he kept Yates within his sight. Ad The world champion looked to close in on Yates in the final kilometre, but he had to settle for second and finished 10 seconds behind the 30-year-old.
