Watch: How MS Dhoni's Shrewd Planning Led To Rohit Sharma's 16th Duck In IPL History

MS Dhoni is considered to be one of the master tacticians of cricket and his brilliance was in full display as he carefully orchestrated the dismissal of Rohit Sharma during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on Saturday. Rohit demoted himself to No 3 in a bid to find form and as soon as the MI skipper came out to bat, Dhoni had a specific plan for him. He came up to the stumps in order to stop Rohit from stepping out of the crease and kept the third-man fielder inside the circle to put extra pressure. It worked instantly as Rohit ended up top-edging the third ball to Ravindra Jadeja off the bowling of Deepak Chahar.

India Lose Yet Again To Australia, This Time 1-3 In 4th Hockey Test

India continued their dismal show in the crucial tour Down Under, losing 1-3 against Australia to suffer their fourth consecutive defeat in the five-match men's hockey Test series, on Friday. Contrary to the final result, it was a much-improved performance from the Indians but the Kookaburras were simply too strong. All the four goals in the match, which started 40 minutes late due to lightning, came from penalty corners. India took the lead in the 12th minute through skipper Harmanpreet Singh but Jeremy Hayward's (19th, 47th) brace and Jack Welch (54th) strike handed Australia yet another win in the series.

KKR Full Squad IPL 2024: List Of Players Kolkata Knight Riders Bought In Auction

Records tumbled at the IPL Players Auction 2024 as Australia pacer Mitchell Starc became the costliest buy in the history of the tournament, surpassing teammate Pat Cummins. Starc was bought by KKR for Rs 24.75 following a bidding war with Gujarat Titans. This comes after Cummins was bought Rs 20.5 crore during the same auction by SunRisers Hyderabad. Despite spending more than half of their purse amount on Starc, KKR finished the auction with nine more players in the bag. The two-time champions, however, pulled off one of the biggest bargains by signing young England pacer Gus Atkinson.

Cheteshwar Pujara's Fifty In Vain As Mumbai Beat Saurashtra Despite Ajinkya Rahane's Failure

A day after their Test careers met with a dead end, veteran batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane on Friday soldiered on for Saurashtra and Mumbai respectively with contrasting results in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Pujara's 35th List A fifty, an arduous 114-ball 55, could not prevent a Saurashtra collapse for a lowly 144, and Mumbai, despite captain Rahane falling for 12, reached 150 for 5 in 34.4 overs for a five-wicket win at the Alur grounds.
