Seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton announced on Instagram Monday he will race at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend after suffering back pain during Sunday's race in Baku.
Lewis Hamilton has described his race at the 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix as “the most painful” of his entire career as his Mercedes W13 bounced its way through several circuits of the track.
Formula 1 are working towards a deal for South Africa to re-join the race calendar in 2023.
Lewis Hamilton has announced that he was “praying” for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to end after conditions on the track caused him a nasty injury.
Lewis Hamilton said “I’ll be there” when addressing doubts over whether a back injury would keep him out of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver finished fourth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday despite struggling with his back throughout the race weekend. Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton assured fans on Monday that he would be racing in Canada this weekend despite suffering severe back pain in Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The 37-year-old Briton's Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had fuelled concern after telling reporters there was a risk Hamilton might not be in a fit state to compete in Montreal. Hamilton had spoken of gritting his teeth through the pain in Baku, with the car bouncing down the straights on bumpy asphalt and called it the toughest race of his career even though he finished fourth.
