In an advisory to teams, the BCCI also informed that the West Indies players will be available for the remainder of the tournament which was suspended last week due to the India-Pakistan military conflict. The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises were handed a massive boost as South Africa announced that they will be cutting back preparation time ahead of the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia. While SA authorities first said that all players need to return home by May 26, they changed their statement and said that training for the game will now take place from June 3. “Correction – the squad will resume training for the game on June 3rd. At ground level, we are focusing on preps for the WTC final,” Cricket South Africa (CSA) Director Of Cricket Enoch Nkwe said according to Sydney Morning Herald.
The extension of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season due to the Indo-Pak conflict has resulted in a big headache for franchises. While the message from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is to get all overseas players back for the resumption of the league, Cricket South Africa has told its players to return home by May 26, as was the initial agreement when the IPL final was to be held on May 25. Many reports are doing rounds on social media regarding the resumption of IPL 2025. The Indian T20 tournament was suspended midway on May 9 by the BCCI, due to the military tensions between India and Pakistan. All the franchises were asked to disband and many overseas stars also left for the respective nations. As both India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday, things are likely to get back on track soon. The BCCI and the IPL officials also held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the plan to resume the tournament, which was suspended after Match No.58.
