History was made on a remarkable day at the Mexican Open in Acapulco as Alexander Zverev’s win over Jenson Brooksby set the record for the latest-ever finish in tennis. The match started at 1:30am local time and didn’t finish until 4.55am, with defending champion Zverev prevailing 3-6 7-6(10) 6-2 after saving two match points in the second-set tie-breaker. Isner was involved in the longest match of all time against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in the first round of Wimbledon in 2010. The pair battled it for 11 hours five minutes across three days before Isner took the fifth set 70-68.
Reilly Opelka fired 39 aces and held on through the longest tiebreaker in ATP Tour history to beat John Isner 7-6 (9/7), 7-6 (24/22) Saturday to reach the final of the Dallas Open.
