Australia’s Hazlewood steers Bengaluru to win over Rajasthan

BENGALURU, India: Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood starred with 4-33 in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 11 run IPL win at home against Rajasthan Royals, who won the toss and chose to field first Thursday. Chasing 206 to win after Bengaluru’s 205-5, Rajasthan looked comfortable before Dhruv Jurel was dismissed by Hazlewood in the 19th over of the chase. Jurel scored a 34-ball 47 and was removed with 17 needed off 9 balls for the win. Hazlewood removed England’s Jofra Archer on the next ball, leaving Royals reeling with 17 needed off the final over. Earlier, Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli hit a 42-ball 70 to steer Bengaluru to a par score on a batting friendly Bengaluru wicket. Openers Kohli and Phil Salt raced to 59-0 in the powerplay before Salt was removed on 26 in the seventh over with the team on 61-1. Kohli then built an important 95 run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal before finally falling in the 16th over to Archer. Padikkal, who was batting very well, fell soon after a 27-ball 50, with Bengaluru on 161-3. Quick wickets toward the end took away the momentum before key cameos by Tim David (23) and Jitesh Sharma, who remained unbeaten on 20. Archer was Rajasthan’s standout bowler and finished with 33-1.

"Pulled Me Out Of My Comfort Zone": RCB Star Opens Up On Working With Dinesh Karthik

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma credited mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik for encouraging him to back his natural ability in the IPL 2025 season. Jitesh was acquired by RCB for Rs 11 crore in last year's auction following his heroics with Punjab Kings in the last three seasons. His addition is a boost for RCB's batting depth in the season as the batter has delivered so far with cameo knocks in the death overs. Reflecting on Karthik's influence on his mindset, Jitesh acknowledged the former India wicketkeeper's contribution to his batting form.

'Everyone Seems To Be Finisher": RCB Star Jitesh Sharma Opens Up On Batting Struggles

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's designated finisher Jitesh Sharma said batting down the order has redesigned the value of his knocks, and he is now treating scores of 30s or 40s as equivalent to a fifty. Jitesh has often strode out to bat at No 6 in IPL 2025 and his most significant contribution thus far has been a 40 off 19 balls in RCB's 12-run win over Mumbai Indians a few days back. “Now everyone seems to be a finisher. But it's a difficult job to bat at No 6, No 7 because ever since I started finishing, I haven't scored a fifty. I was an opener. Earlier I used to score fifties and centuries,” Jitesh said in the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries.

"Have To Score To Get Selected": Jitesh Sharma Reflects On His Mindset For T20 World Cup Selection

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma spoke about the pressure he felt to perform well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in order to get selected for the World Cup. He admitted that he was playing with his mind last year and not focusing on the game itself. "Last year, because of the World Cup selection, I was not present in the IPL. So, in every game, I was thinking that I have to score, I have to score to get selected in the World Cup. I am not ashamed to accept it. I am a human. A human can make mistakes, and I have no problem with that. Last year, I was playing with my mind," Jitesh Sharma said in a video shared by IPL.

RCB Star Sends Massive Warning To Delhi Capitals Ahead Of IPL Clash: "Relying On..."

Jitesh Sharma attributed his ongoing renaissance as a T20 batter to the efforts put in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru mentor Dinesh Karthik who believes that the wicketkeeper can develop into a true '360' degree player. Jitesh had a lukewarm IPL 2024 for Punjab Kings, scoring just 187 runs from 14 matches at a measly average of 17 and at a reduced strike-rate of 131. But at RCB, the 31-year-old has already made handy 85 runs from four matches, and his strike-rate has touched 185, a sign of him regaining confidence. "It's been a great journey till now because in the off-season, I really worked hard with him. I think whichever shot that I am playing right now is the replica of what he used to play. He is trying to create a new player in me," said Jitesh on the eve of the match against Delhi Capitals.

India Star Questions Bizarre Cricket Rule After RCB Robbed Of A Run vs MI In IPL 2025

There is a big loophole in the rules of cricket when it comes to the Decision Review System (DRS). The flaw was exposed during the Mumbai Indians' home game vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Indian Premier League 2025 on Monday. The incident took place on the final ball of the RCB innings. MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah bowled a yorker to RCB's Jitesh Sharma. The batter missed the shot, and it hit his pad. The umpire raised his finger to the appeal of MI players, but Jitesh, who had taken a run post that, decided to go upstairs.
