"Although cricket is a hugely popular sport, it will be a fantastic opportunity to expand traditional boundaries when it features in the Olympics in the fast-paced, exciting T20 format that should appeal to new audiences." Cricket, which made its only appearance in the Olympics at the Paris Games in 1900, was included in the Los Angeles Olympics programme after IOC's 141st Session at Mumbai in October 2023.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday included Allahudien Paleker of South Africa and England's Alex Wharf in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires which features Nitin Menon as the only Indian, while Jayaraman Madangopal has been promoted to the Emerging Panel. Michael Gough and Joel Wilson will make way for the two new entrants in Palekar and Wharf. According to BCCI sources, the 50-year-old Madangopal has been promoted to the Emerging Panel which makes him eligible to officiate in overseas Tests and ODIs. Former Tamil Nadu player Madangopal has so far officiated in one Test, 22 ODIs and 42 T20Is.

PCB Blasts ICC Once Again Over Champions Trophy 2025 Ceremony Row: "Mismanagement..."

The Pakistan Cricket Board's chief operating officer has blamed the ICC for the mismanagement at the final presentation ceremony of the Champions Trophy in Dubai. No Pakistan representative was called on the podium for the final ceremony in Dubai during final presentation ceremony despite the PCB CEO, Sumair Ahmed being present at the ground. Sumair said at a function in Lahore that it was the result of mismanagement on part of the ICC. “It was a result of mismanagement on part of the ICC and everyone knows who's involved in it. We did not take the matter in a positive way," he said.
