Former England cricket team skipper Michael Vaughan believes that India lacks 'aggressive leadership' going into the five-match Test series against Australia. Bumrah, together with the team management, including head coach Gautam Gambhir, decided to spring a big surprise by picking spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar ahead of the veteran duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for the series opener. The series opener for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was expected to feature either Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja taking the sole spinner's spot, as has been the tradition overseas, but it was Washington Sundar who got the nod.
