ROUBAIX, France : Dutchman Dylan van Baarle won the Paris-Roubaix Monument classic race, a 257.2-km ride from Compiegne on Sunday.
Dylan Van Baarle (Ineos Grenadiers) finished off a fascinating edition of Paris-Roubaix with an immaculate ride, which was set up by his Ineos Grenadiers team-mates, the first moves of which were made as far away as 200km south of the fabled André-Pétrieux velodrome. Van Baarle rode solo onto the track and was then able to enjoy a relaxed final lap of the fastest edition of the race in history. Ad/> A group of four arrived almost two minutes later, with Wout van Aert (Jumbo Visma) and Stefan Kung (Groupama FDJ) claiming the minor podium places.
Remco Evenepoel believes that leading the Tour of the Basque Country with a day to go proves that he can compete with the best general classification riders. Evenepoel showed his class in the latter stages of the penultimate climb in Stage 5, where he brought seven riders with him except previous race leader Primoz Roglic. Ad/> According to an Ineos medical update, Bernal suffered a fractured vertebrae, a fractured right femur, a fractured right patella, chest trauma, a punctured lung and several fractured ribs after the crash.
