England fast-bowler Jofra Archer has signed a one-year contract extension with Sussex.

Cheteshwar Pujara has continued his fine form for Sussex. On Day 2 of their match against Middlesex in the County Championship Division Two, Pujara scored his third double ton this season. Courtesy Pujara's double ton, Sussex crossed the 500-run mark in the first innings. Pujara was the last wicket to fall for Sussex on Wednesday. He ended on 231 off 403 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara on Tuesday was named interim captain for Sussex following the news that Tom Haines will be out for around 5-6 weeks after breaking a bone in his hand whilst batting against Leicestershire last week. Pujara has been one of the prolific run-scorers for the county this season and has scored more than 750 runs this season in the six matches that he has played in the County Championship Division 2.

Sussex have confirmed England pace bowler Ollie Robinson will play in the four-day warm-up game against New Zealand, as he works his way back from injury.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Pakistan's Mohammad Rizwan on Thursday made their Sussex debut for the game against hosts Derbyshire in the County Championships Division 2 here. While Pujara has played first-class cricket in England in the past, it is the first outing for Pakistan wicketkeeper batter.

Cheteshwar Pujara will have to wait to make his Sussex debut until next week, as delays in issuing his visa means that the Indian will not be available for the first County Championship match of the season. The club have been in regular contact with Pujara and have been working tirelessly to enable him to be available for the first game of the season against Nottinghamshire, however due to delays in issuing his visa, the overseas batter will not be available until next week. Speaking on the issues relating to the delay, Sussex Performance Director, Keith Greenfield commented, "Securing overseas players has been tremendously difficult in the current climate. We renegotiated the initial Pujara contract so he could return for more County Championship and Royal London Cup matches, and this subsequently changed the visa requirements."

Sussex had hoped to have Pujara available for their opening County Championship match at home to Nottinghamshire starting on Thursday. But delays in issuing the 34-year-old with a visa mean he won't be available to the south coast club until next week at the earliest.
